The Pro Team athlete debuted at the Swedish Championships week in 2013. This weekend, Team Ramudden’s Alfred Buskqvist is one of the favorites for the roller skiing races.

It has been ten years since Alfred Buskqvist started for the first time at the Swedish Championships week; since then, he has been a regular starter.

“I think I raced them all. No, I missed Sundsvall and Norrköping. But the remaining I have started. And there are several reasons for this. I think the Swedish Championships week is one of the year’s highlights. Especially when the competitions occur in the city where there are many people, we can market both the sport and our clubs to people who normally don’t see much skiing. It’s a competition where there’s not a lot of pressure, and it’s just fun. Then it’s clear that I want to perform,” says Buskqvist, who already has silver and bronze.

“I’m still chasing that gold. Looking at the program now, Saturday’s classic sprint should be the best chance. But many want to win it, and I want to try to beat Marcus Grate on his home ground,” says Buskqvist to Langd.se.

“I really like the Swedish Championships week, and even though my main goal is the Ski Classics, you can’t get as good training as you get by competing. This will make two excellent training sessions.”

Friday’s distance race with an individual start. What is the tactic there?

“It’s about finding the right pace and getting to five even laps. The track is flat, but that means you never get to rest. The sprint track is tougher. The long hill is quite tough and gets steeper and steeper, but I don’t think it will be decided there but rather the course from there to the finish,” concludes Alfred Buskqvist.
