Visma Ski Classics Season XII starts on Saturday in Orsa Grönklitt, Sweden. In total there are 276 Pro Team Athletes registered in 35 Pro Teams.

Among the 276 athletes there are 91 female skiers and 185 male skiers. Naturally these numbers will change during the season as more skiers are going to register for certain events.

Visma Ski Classics Pro Teams are international and many of them include several different nationalities. Norway has the greatest number of registered athletes with 94. Sweden takes the second place with 55 skiers, Finland has increased its numbers and is now in third place with 33 athletes.

There has been an ongoing increase of Pro Athletes from the non-scandinavian countries past years. And the same great development is to be seen also in season XII. Czech Republic has 19 registered athletes, Germany 17 athletes,  Switzerland 13 athletes, Italy 12 athletes  and Russia has 10 athletes registered for season XII. France has 8 registered athletes this year, Austria and Estonia have 5 registered athletes each.

Estonia is a quite new country to be seen in Visma Ski Classics and the fact that their largest ski event- Tartu Marathon, is a part of the Pro Tour from this season, gives great opportunities for a continued growth in the country for professional long distance skiers. There are finally in season XII two athletes registered from Spain and one respectively from the countries; China, Great Britain and USA.
