Winter is fast approaching, and it’s already here in some places. If you’re looking for new equipment, ProXCskiing.com has just published The Big Ski Test 2023, a three-part test of skin skis, cross-country ski poles, and double poling skis.

All equipment in The Big Ski Test 2023 was tested in the Torsby ski tunnel, Sweden, in connection with Sportforum’s Sport Academy Days in mid-September.

The test person for ProXCskiing.com was Sanna Forsman, previously active in cross-country skiing, and our reporter Hedda Westby was also on-site in Torsby, coordinating the tests, noting the test results, and then compiling them in three different parts.

Skin skis

First up was the skin skis test. Eight pairs of skin skis from the biggest companies on the market were tested. Each ski was tested for grip, glide, and handling and then given an overall assessment.

Ski Poles

In the second part, the cross-country skiing poles test was published. Eight pairs of poles from many companies were tested based on stiffness, pendulum, hand strap, and snow basket parameters.

Part 2: The Big Ski Test 2023 – Ski Poles

Double poling skis

The test of double poling skis was published in the third and final part. ProXCskiing.com tested five pairs of double poling skis. Double poling skis suit elite athletes who like to double-pole through long-distance races. The parameters tested were stability, glide, and handling. Finally, each pair of skis received an overall assessment.
